Verifying is a body of work composed of photos and videos made with photocopiers and projectors. The work grows out of the artist's experience working in social services, where they noticed how their office's photocopier would degrade images of clients' vital documents when copied multiple times.
Using repeatedly photocopied images of their body and their ID, the artist explores themes of alienation and bureaucratic systems of documentation, probing the space between the self and the recorded self.
Images show the Verifying series exhibited at Casa Olinka in Puebla, Mexico. The solo exhibition included photos hanging on cork board, photo copies and file cabinet, desk, computer monitor, keyboard and mouse, and the Verifying video with sounds of a photo copier.
